The lily is native to the Middle East, it was brought back to Europe by the Crusaders. Greek mythology usually deifies its scent. While Juno feeds her

son Heracles, he lets two jets of milk flow. One becomes the Milky Way, the other the fleur-de-lis. Associated with the Virgin Mary and purity, it became the emblem of French royalty in the form of a coat of arms (it was then written Lys). The many varieties of fleur-de-lis Lilium sp. have been an ingredient of choice in perfumes since Roman times. A maceration in vegetable oils is extracted.

Effects / why?

The aromatic composition of an incense ideal for meditation is as follows: a base note for stability and concentration, a heart note for calming emotions, a top note to combat torpor and keep the mind focused on the exercise. In this incense, the woody and sweet sandalwood forms both the base note and the heart note. The fleur-de-lis plays a fresh and invigorating top note. The fleur-de-lis is the symbol of purity, an essential virtue on the spiritual path.

History of this incense

This incense is made on the island of Awaji in Japan using the traditional extrusion technique. The length of the sticks of 35 cm allows a burning time of 2 hours. It is very difficult to make sticks of this length without them being twisted or deformed. The manufacturing process therefore still largely relies on human hands.

Why is this incense not labeled 100% natural? 

In some recipes, we use a small proportion of artificial fragrances. For example, when the scents are not available in nature, are not olfactorily powerful enough or when their use involves the destruction of natural resources currently under ecological pressure. We consider that only natural ingredients provide positive effects on health (aromatherapy - aromachology) and avoid synthetic ingredients as much as possible. We ensure, where applicable, that the 2-3% of artificial perfume or coloring added in certain recipes does not pose any problem for health or well-being in the context of our use. We select these components precisely, eliminating all those that would have a potentially dangerous character. In this category of incense from the point of view of their naturalness, we must objectively consider their positive influence thanks to the 97-98% of natural aromatic materials in their recipes. The 2-3% of synthetic ingredients selected for their safety behave neutrally.
