Description
The Japanese red cow called Akabeko is very popular in Japan. It has entertained children for many generations, mainly made of papier-mâché, the statuette gently nods its head with a skilful game of balance. It is said that these statuettes would protect against diseases. Indeed, when a smallpox epidemic hit Japan, children with these statues were not affected.
